The Helen Cargill Thompson Project
The Archives and Collections at The Glasgow School of Art illustrate the history of the institution and the development of its teaching practices since it was established in 1845. It is a rich resource for education, open to students, researchers and the public.
In 2020 it was generously bequeathed a world-class collection of silver and jewellery by the late Helen Cargill Thompson, an avid collector and benefactor to many Glasgow and Scottish institutions. The collection of over 1000 items, dating from 1985 to 2019, is exquisite and diverse, and includes a wide selection of work by GSA undergraduate and graduate students. It is a true celebration of craftmanship in Glasgow, as well as a snapshot of GSA graduate work over the years.
The Helen Cargill Thompson Project aims to make the collection available for teaching, research and exhibition by cataloguing, researching and photographing the objects.
By making a donation towards this project, you will support us to make this exquisite collection visible and accessible to a local and international audience.
